About The Founder

What makes IE Networks unique is the expertise and vision of its founder. Meried Bekele, the owner and general manager of IE Networks, was the first person to become Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) in Ethiopia in 2007 while he was working as senior network operations expert for WoredaNet in Ministry of Communications and IT (then called EICTDA). He is certified in IT service management (ITIL) and project management professional (PMP). He is also working on Juniper, Vmware, Redhat Linux, HP, EMC and TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certifications. Meried has got BSc in Electrical Engineering from Mekelle University and MBA in IT Management from Trident University International in CA, USA. Since November 2007, he has been technical and project management consultant of ethio telecom for USD 1.5 Billion national Next Generation Network (NGN) program, which includes IP/MPLS, optical DWDM/SDH backbone/backhaul, fixed line NGN, CDMA, mobile (GSM/3G) and Network Operations Center (NOC) projects. He has also designed and implemented Cisco 7600 and 12000 routers based IP/MPLS backbone in 2008 to upgrade and optimize the old broadband and ISP networks. Besides, he is the architect of a National Research and Education Network (NREN) that interconnects all public higher educational institutions in Ethiopia - EthERNet (Ethiopian Education and Research Network) – with 40Gbps IP/MPLS OTN optical backbone.
