One project stands out as a shining success in the world of IE Network Solutions, where innovative networked solutions are constantly being developed: the Bahir Dar project at the magnificent Bahir Dar University. We are thrilled to share this momentous achievement, as it has made a significant impact on both the university and its community. Network solutions are critical for ensuring seamless communication, collaboration, and access to information in today’s digital age.

The Bahir Dar project’s substantial goal was to provide, install, configure, and empower staff for outdoor wireless access points at Bahir Dar University. On October 10, 2021, we were granted the project, and we immediately began the implementation process. Our main goal was to build a dependable and highly available wireless infrastructure across five campuses: EITEX, Wisdom, Yibabe, Zenzelema, and Felege-tibebe Specialized Hospital. This cutting-edge infrastructure not only supports teaching, learning, research, and operation, but it also meets the expanding demands of innovative students and faculty in an ever-changing academic world.

We assembled a team of highly skilled professionals to ensure the project’s success, including project managers, Enterprise network engineers, smart infrastructure engineers, data center facility and power engineers, sourcing engineers, project finance officers, and logistics officers, along with over 18 other project support personnel. Notwithstanding difficulties such as the COVID-19 epidemic, local item/construction materials supply shortages, regional peace and unrest problems that have had a significant impact on the project supply chain process, and the necessity to replace end-of-life products, we conquered each one with unflinching resolve and perseverance.

We completed our project’s aims and exceeded expectations by leveraging beneficial interactions with our esteemed local and worldwide partners, such as Ruckus, Cisco, local item suppliers, and authorized logistics firms. We sourced all offshore products from well-known global destinations such as Dubai, China, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The project was thoroughly completed in accordance with our contractual agreement, which aimed to improve the learning experience by offering real-time online access to relevant information and fostering consistent and relevant advice from lecturers to students. With wifi access widely available, students may now easily engage in online learning activities while being in constant contact with their peers and professors. In turn, the institution can bring new learning and collaboration experiences, strengthening its credibility as an innovator of high-quality education.

The project was budgeted at 29,848,742.56 ETB; however, due to a wide range of factors including additional needs and best practice aim modification requests, the actual cost grew to 32,492,916.62 ETB. Including all the mentioned factors and changes, we were able to complete the project within the intended time frame with project quality and give superb results to our client Bahirdar University. Supply, installation, and commissioning of Cisco indoor access points, Ruckus outdoor access points, and Ruckus wireless LAN controllers were the components of the entire work performed. Every activity was carried out with the highest efficiency and effectiveness, resulting in perfect client satisfaction.

Subsequently, the BahirDar project, which included the delivery, installation, commissioning, and training of the staff (Offshore, onshore, and on-job training) for outside wireless access points, was a complete success in every way.
